Taster Theme

Each Law Taster includes a themed session, so you can experience what it is like to attend a Law tutorial as a À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ student.

This taster’s theme is: AI, Drone Warfare & The Law: Who Should Control the Trigger?

We’ll be discussing autonomous weapons, artificial intelligence, and the laws of war. Through real-world scenarios and powerful film analysis, you’ll step into the role of a military decision-maker and grapple with the legal and ethical dilemmas shaping modern conflict.

  • Should AI be trusted to make targeting decisions?
  • Can the law keep up with rapidly advancing technology?
  • Where do we draw the line between military necessity and human rights?

You don’t need any prior knowledge on this topic – just curiosity and a willingness to challenge your thinking.

Who is this taster for?

Are you an aspiring solicitor or barrister?

Or, perhaps you want to work in compliance or financial services?

During this webinar you’ll find out how the LLB at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, delivered over two years, will support you in achieving your career ambitions.

For those interested in qualifying as a solicitor in the UK, the webinar will explain the recent introduction of SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Examinations) and how our law degrees help prepare you for these professional exams, enabling you to choose the accelerated SQE1 preparation courses after graduation. Our innovative and diverse curriculum also contributes to preparation for the practice orientated SQE2, both SQE1 and SQE2 being necessary for qualification as a solicitor.

For those students wishing to qualify as an English barrister, we will explain how our law degrees (single or combined honours) satisfy the academic component of Bar training, the necessary first step to qualifying as an English barrister.

Our LLB also satisfies the necessary first step for qualifying as a lawyer in various common law jurisdictions, including Canada, Nigeria, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. In addition, we often accommodate the additional requirements needed to practise in some other common law countries and, if you are an overseas student, we are willing to explore what modules you will need to qualify for your jurisdiction.
